“I think we have a responsibility to create art, to make it a necessity, to provoke thought and action. In the words of my mentors Paula Jardine and Marina Szjarto who are artists-in-residence at the Vancouver’s Mountain View Cemetery “As artists, we understand ritual and ceremony from the perspective of theatre artists, as people who understand the power of a symbol, of doing things in a certain order, and the use of colour and light to affect experience. Our responsibility is to create space in which the public can have their own experience. We are extremely mindful of the sacred responsibility this undertaking implies.”
