Support the Equinox Vigil through our UnGala!
Now entering its 7th year as a cherished tradition for Calgary families, Equinox Vigil is a response to the need within our increasingly diverse and secular community for meaningful, contemporary public rituals to honour our deceased and reflect on the universal experience of death and loss.
Our annual fundraiser makes it easy to support Equinox Vigil without having to go anywhere, just stay home and tally up the ‘savings’ (no babysitter! no tickets to buy etc) and pay it forward.
Here’s a breakdown of some of our costs and what your support provides:
$25 pays for a set of solar lighting
$100 artist fee for poetry reading
$250 for a photographer, a lantern artist or a memorial-making artist
$300-750 pays for an artist in residence
$1000 sponsors our Tea Tent
and the unglam parts of any event:
$900 City permits, electricity supply, and waste management
(sorry no tax receipting this year)
Our GoFundMe page makes it easy! Support us at any dollar amount that works for you and thank you for supporting our ability to produce this free event.
The Ungala is a fantastic (non)event! I get to stay home and design my own gala evening. For me that’s on the couch listening to the music I bought ages ago and reading the book I’ve been meaning to get around to. Ah, just staying home. On a night of my choosing. What a great idea and I’m passing on the savings to Equinox Vigil.
